1. Park Life: Vondelpark Open Air Theatre | From May to August 2014, the Vondelpark Open Air Theatre presents a four-month programme packed with dance, cabaret, jazz, children’s theatre, stand-up comedy and all genres of music. Entry is free but donations are appreciated. www.openluchttheater.nl

2. As it says on the tin: Café Restaurant Amsterdam | Just a short walk from the Westerpark, Café Restaurant Amsterdam is located in a former water pumping station dating back to the late 19th century. Golden Age: The Mauritshuis | The Mauritshuis in The Hague displays a collection of world-famous paintings by Dutch and Flemish masters from the Golden Age, in a majestic seventeenth-century house. Brass & Blooms: Hortus Festival | Providing a beautiful way to spend a balmy yet cultured summer evening, the Hortus Festival brings classical music to the botanical gardens of Amsterdam, Haren, Leiden and Utrecht every year.
